Kim Won-Shik or “Sam” of True Beauty and Alchemy of Souls, is set to star as the second male lead in upcoming Filipino mini-series, Pag-Ibig Na Kaya.
The title was aptly named so as it is produced by the country’s number one independent record label, Universal Records Philippines. The same label was also responsible for helping bring in Original Pilipino Music (OPM) hits over the decades and is home to OPM artists we have grown to love, including Gary Valenciano, Parokya Ni Edgar, Ice Seguerra, Noel Cabangon, Christian Bautista, Sponge Cola, Neocolours, Gloc-9, Elmo Magalona, and Julie Anne San Jose, to name a few.
Speaking of Julie Ann San Jose, she is set to star as the lead alongside her real-life partner, Rayver Cruz in Pag-Ibig Na Kaya. Written by JP Lopez and directed by Niq Ablao, this sweet love story mini-series is slated to release in February 2023.
On working and living in the Philippines

According to Sam, this project with UR is his absolute first time to work with a Filipino production and of course, his first-ever experience to act with our talented Filipino stars. He became easily invested in his role in Pag-ibig Na Kaya and quickly felt that its overall treatment is truly inspired by K-Dramas.
A fun fact about Kim Won-Shik is that he studied here in the Philippines for six and a half years. He can understand and speak Filipino, though he admitted that he feels pressured since he needs to speak English and Filipino in most of his scenes. However, Sam considers filming this show to be a fantastic experience on his part that greatly contributed to his growth as an actor.
“It’s a good experience for me. It’s my first time working with Filipino actors. When I first read the script, I felt like it’s like a Korean drama because you know, there are so many similarities. I even asked the writer if he is inspired by some K-Dramas while making this. It was good! And I really wanted this role here in Pag-ibig Na Kaya.” shared Sam.
