K-pop's legends Super Junior will be releasing their 10th album, The Renaissance, on March 16.
In case you didn't know, Super Junior debuted on November 6, 2005. They've been in the music industry for 15 years. They're one of the handfuls of the second-generation group who remains active nowadays as they push boundaries in the industry.Photo credit: Super Junior's Facebook page |
Here are seven reasons why you should stan Super Junior:

With the diverse personalities and skills, they've been pursuing solo careers as singers, hosts for TV shows, songwriters, music video directing, and acting in theatre and TV series.

The maknae of the group, Kyuhyun, who has a powerful voice has contributed songs to several official soundtracks such as Hospital Playlist for Confession is Not Flashy, and When the Weather is Fine's All Day Long.
3. They have their own dedicated record label
Super Junior is the first SM Entertainment group to have their exclusive label, Label SJ. All of their productions are under the said label though they still operate under their auspices of SM Entertainment including regular appearances at SMTown concerts and ventures.
4. They've started the Hallyu Wave
In 2009, Super Junior released the song and music video for Sorry Sorry. The said dance track with the funky sound of R&B and apology-inspired dance gestures made its way to increase interest in K-pop to the world.
5. You gotta love their sub-units
Over the years, Super Junior has been experimenting with stuff by creating sub-units. The current sub-units that are active are Super Junior D&E (with Donghae and Eunhyuk) who released several albums in Japan and Korea; and KRY which comprises the ballads of Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung --- the trio known for their lush, epic vocal pop ballad in which some of the songs appeared in TV drama series.

Super Junior M is a Chinese sub-unit, the first international music group in China's music industry to have Chinese-Korean descent at that time. Hangeng left in 2009; Henry in 2018, leaving Zhou Mi who was the only Chinese member of the said group.

The trot group, Super Junior T formed in 2007 with Leeteuk, Heechul, Shindong, Eunhyuk, and Sungmin. Meanwhile, the happy unit, Super Junior H debuted in 2008 and released their EP, Cooking? Cooking!.
6. Fall in love with the Sapphire Blue wave
Even though the group experiences the highs and lows of the career, they don't give up making new music for ELFs! If you attended their Super Show and see them perform for the first time, you will drool over the Sapphire Blue "ocean." They also have songs dedicated to the EverLasting Friends such as 2007's Sapphire Blue from Don't Don album and Blue World from their 2013 Japanese album.
How adorable the group was!

7. 15 years and counting...they are still the same Super Junior that we know in 2005
K-pop's last man standing. There's a lot of K-pop groups who didn't stay for so long, even Super Junior continued their singing career despite numerous ups and downs such as multiple car accidents, frequent line-up changes, and personal issues.
Currently, only 9 members are active in the group. Kibum ended his contract in 2015 with SM Entertainment. Though, in 2009, he focused on his acting career. Sungmin has his solo career; Kangin left the group but still working with SM Entertainment. Photo credit: Super Junior's Facebook page |
